t Photos: Martin Henningsson Thai tapas feast After running a little Thai joint out in the suburb of Bagarmossen for five years, Pat Prommeenate fulfilled his life’s ambition towards the end of 2017 in opening his first full-scale restaurant. The result is Pat’s Place, located at the lower end of Folkungagatan. The restaurant is sparsely furnished and possibly not the cosiest hangout we’ve ever seen, but what they lack in atmosphere they more than make up for on the gastronomical side of things. They offer small size dishes, ranging in price from between 65 and 115 kronor, and depending on what you choose you will fill up on two or three. You get the most out of Pat’s Place as a larger group sharing a whole host of dishes, even if that is not the kind of table-manner that suits everyone. We lead off with a load of ‘No more nuggets’ (65 kronor) to nibble on while we drink a cold one and read the rest of the menu in peace. Soon a perfectly fried chicken lands in front of us, and we place our subsequent order of four dishes to share for two people. And then things move quickly. At a frantic pace, new dishes are placed on the table in front of us - a thai avocado hash with rice paper (85 kronor), a salmon ceviche (85 kronor) and fish cakes. The latter look more like small pancakes but just like the ceviche and the avocado hash they are perfectly balanced in saltiness and sweetness, but perhaps a tad conservative when it comes to the spices. Pat’s Place Folkungagatan 140 patsplace.se There’s more heat to the slow cooked ‘Nana in my heart’ (85 kronor) that is made from Pat’s grandmother’s secret recipe, plus ‘Bathing duck’ (85 kronor) that consists of duck and tropical fruits swimming in red curry. All in all our bill come in at just shy of 600 kronor after this pleasant Thai tapas feast and there’s no doubt that we’ll return to Pat’s Place again and again in the near future. 18
