Exhibition: ArkDes Open for most of the corona pe
riod, ArkDes is another institute that shut down for an unclear length of time in November. But they’ve had some excellent exhibitions already this year in the form of their ASMR exploration WEIRD SENSATION FEELS GOOD and Kiruna Forever, their deep dive into the remaking of northern city Kiruna. And if you’ve missed them, you can catch them online, as digital versions have been brought to life on the Arkdes website. https://arkdes.se/ Photo: Hufton + Crown, Courtesy of Henning Larsen (2018) Theatre: Dramaten Classical: SR Symphony Orchestra Dramaten, like most places that deal in crowds at the moment, is closed. But they’ve teamed up with SVT Play to bring their shows onto the web, livestreaming current performances as well as putting some of their classic shows from down through the years online. So you can catch Bildmakarna, a play by Per Olov Enquist about the visual adaption of a Selma Lagerlöf novel, in its 1998 version, directed by Ingmar Bergman, along with many other old and new treasures. https://www.dramaten.se/play/ Sveriges Radio’s Berwaldhallen opened up briefly in October for crowds of up to 50 people, but the rise in cases quickly forced them to shut the doors again. Happily, the year up to that point has given them plenty of practice at finding other means of bringing classical music to its fans, and they’ve been uploading all their concerts on the Berwaldhallen Play online platform. So you can catch recent shows, like the SR Symphony Orchestra’s November performance of Mozart and Schubert, conducted by Herbert Blomqvist and with violin from Johan Dalane, along with an archive of other past shows, right there. https://www.berwaldhallen.se/en/play/ Classical: Konserthuset Konserthuset have also been working on their digital archive this year. Now you’ll find lots of their shows live-streamed on their website, and later archived for watching at your own time and place, so there’s plenty of classical treats for you to enjoy at home. Such as the Kungliga Filharmonikerna’s November trip through Haydn, Brahms and Schumann, conducted by Alan Gilbert. https://www.konserthuset.se/play/ 28 Photo: Sören Vilks Photo: Julian Hargreaves Photo: Nadja Sjöström
