ired to follow pharmaceutical regulations this has been expected by the market. Large pharmaceutical companies audit Cenova with the expectations to also follow pharmaceutical regulations. With an ambition to be best in class, many of these expectations have already been implemented across Cenova’s business platform. To include also pharmaceuticals in the business scope is therefore considered as perfect timing. “A first step to take is to have a license to handle primary packed pharmaceuticals, meaning that we will not handle the actual drugs. Most of the requests are related to the handling of packed drugs together with a medical device which we already produce today, for example a syringe. The initial field is therefore closely linked to treatment packs, repacking, relabeling etc.,” says Johannes Kask. A DVER T OR I A L Cenova has started the application process and is in the phase of closing potential gaps between the current state of business and the regulatory requirements in the field of pharmaceuticals. The ambition is to have filed the final application during 2019 and to have a license during the first half of 2020. Cenova has been in the field of Medical Devices, IVD-products and single use components for more than 40 years. FACTS IN BRIEF Cenova has manufactured sterile medical devices and other products with the common aspect of requirements for cleanliness. Over the years, requests to also handle pharmaceuticals have come in to Cenova and the trend is that the frequency of these requests is continuing to increase. “We see an increased need for combinational products and requests for handling packed pharmaceuticals in general. That is why we are now applying to the Swedish Medical Agency for a license to handle pharmaceuticals. It is a natural step for Cenova to take and it fits Cenova’s ambition to grow and to increase its offering” says Johannes Kask, Head of Marketing and Sales at Cenova. Regulatory requirements for medical devices have in the last couple of years increased, and so has the market expectations.
