F IN A NC IN G Pixelgen raises 6 million USD The launch of the company, with the purpose to advance single-cell spatial proteomics, follows the close of a seed round led by Navigare Ventures. THE FOUNDING WILL support the commercialization next year of the company’s Molecular Pixelation technology for spatial analyses of cell surface proteins in 3D. According to the company, this is the only technology able to show spatial protein polarization and co-localization on the cell surface in a highly multiplexed manner. ANTAROS MEDICAL WAS founded in 2014 to utilize imaging to provide evidence-based decision support for pharma companies in the clinical development phase. Today, they have established themselves as a strategic development partner to the pharmaceutical industry, combining imaging with experience of drug development and knowledge of disease mechanisms. “We know that we’re at the forefront of our technology area, but none of that matters unless we can bring value to our clients,” says Johannes Hulthe, CEO, Antaros Medical. SwedenBIO Award is given annually, in collaboration with HealthCap, to a life science company that has shown outstanding achievements and contributions to society and that exemplifies the potential of a strong Swedish life science industry. This year’s three award finalists were Antaros Medical, Genovis, and Hansa Biopharma. The prize ceremony was held December 6th 2022. oligo-conjugated antibodies and nucleic acid encoded pixels to identify and spatially locate cell surface proteins. After staining, cells are tagged with Pixelgen’s DNA pixels to map out the locations of the surface proteins. Next-gen sequencing enables the generation of a spherical and spatial map of cell surface proteins for each single cell. Pixelgen was founded in 2020 by Simon Fredriksson, Alvaro Martinez Barrio, Fredrik Dahl, and Filip Karlsson. 11 MILLION USD ... ... has been raised by HVR Cardio in a Series B financing round, led by Finnish Innovestor Life Science Fund and Tesi.
