Rósa Corcoran, daughter of Sean and the festivals Artistic Director, had this to say: “Last year’s sold-out festival was a really joyous gathering in celebration of the life and work of my late father Seán. To be able to bring artists and audiences together in the heart of his hometown of Drogheda felt very special. A lot of love and care has gone into the curation of this year’s programme. It’s important to me personally that all who join us feel a sense of welcome and croí na féile – ‘the soul of hospitality’ is our guiding light.” 6th – 8th September Drogheda, County Louth seancorcoranseries.com who/ what/ when/ where 44 Music Liliane Tomasko – Twofold Kerlin Gallery welcomes Twofold, a new solo exhibition by artist Liliane Tomasko, presenting five new large-scale diptychs alongside a new series of works on paper. Tomasko’s signature, bold lyricism and decisive use of colour is emblazoned across twinned panels of aluminium or linen. This diptych format positions tone, form and texture in dialogue back and forth across surfaces, sparking new resonances and shaping our understanding of each panel in relation to its neighbour. These paintings must contend with two distinct voices – sometimes finding harmony, elsewhere tension; forging complex relationships. “Larger shapes, suggestive of figures, come in and out of focus, fragmenting and coming back together in the mind’s eye. Tomasko’s longstanding interest in mythologies is also apparent in this Twofold, reflecting on narratives of equilibrium and justice, such as the ancient concept of the weighing of the soul.” 13 September – 19 October Kerlin Gallery, Anne’s Lane, Dublin 2
