roadmap Theatre Brendan Galileo for Europe We cau
ght this ‘Show in a Bag’ during the Fringe last year and creased ourselves with laughter for the duration of it. We said it was “suffused with wit, warmth, hilarity and a truly exceptional performance by Fionn Foley” and predicted great things for it. It went on to win Best Actor and Little Gem at the Fringe awards and makes a welcome return before entering the frey of the Edinburgh Fringe. Brendan Galileo for Europe explores an island’s relationship with a continent, a community and a contest. As a last ditch effort to save a local music school, Brendan Galileo is bound for the European Parliament via the Song Contest. We cannot think of no better way to spend your lunch-hour. Draíocht, Friday June 14, 8pm, €16-€18 Bewley’s Theatre, Monday June 17 to Friday July 5 (excluding Sunday), €8-€12 Urban Park New Venue Dublin City Farm Project Dublin City Farm Project is small-scale, non-profit, traditional farm set in the urban park surroundings of St Anne’s Park in Raheny. The Dublin City Farm aims to function as a center for knowledge, for teaching and for interaction between people, plants, animals and ecology. The Farm has its roots set firmly in the past with the use of traditional breeds of farm animals and old native seeds. The future of the farm extends beyond the confines of the Park to the local communities providing access to structural learning and modern environmentally sustainable practices. There’s pigs, chickens, goats, a guinea pig and even a pony names Moses as well as raised beds, a herb garden and a wooden cabin. The Farm which will be open five days a week and has been built and run entirely by volunteers and is run on an entirely non-profit basis. Open Thursday: 9.30am - 3pm, Friday: 1pm - 4pm, Saturday: volunteering day 9am - 1pm and Sunday: 10am - 2.30pm 4 Jam Park The city has been craving a decent club space for ages and the arrival of Jam Park aims to revamp an 80,000 sq ft venue into a multi-purpose catch-all space covering everything from brunches and markets to screenings. Granted, we have been spoilt and have always been a tad lazy when it comes to travelling ‘out of town’ to non-festival experiences but we’ll have to get over ourselves if we want in. Their series of ‘rooftop’ parties starts on June 15 and will feature the likes of Swedish producer, Kornél Kovács (pictured) and the much-loved Glaswegian jetsetters - Optimo. Jam Park (Swords), Saturday June 22, 2pm-10pm, €10-€15 Up on the roof: Cooks but we’re chefs (June 15), Project Pablo (July 7), Palms Traxs (July 27), Optimo (August 24). jam-park.com
