NEW SWEDISH BOOKS Great-Jobal from Krokjala: The
Sack of Horror On the mid-northern countryside everyone fears the unpleasant Great-Jobal – a tramp and trickster with a gigantic nose, a chequered past and loose morals, who just about survives by plundering abandoned houses. When one day he manages to steal a magical sack from an old witch a new chapter of his life begins, one which could lead to wealth and riches, but which comes with unexpected complications. Emil Maxén’s The Sack of Horror is the first part of a planned series, inspired in format by the Franco-Belgian comic album tradition, but unmistakeably Swedish in spirit. With highly detailed drawings Maxén blends fantasy tales and horror with coarse cock and bull stories, wild anecdotes and settings inspired by his own home in the North. An equally original and surprising as an impressive debut. Emil Maxén (text and image) GREAT-JOBAL FROM KROKJALA: THE SACK OF HORROR Cobolt Förlag Rights: Cobolt Förlag 74
