Hacienda Late night revelling got off to a slightly muted start in the city with the shuttering of The Hacienda for a much needed refurb at the beginning of the year. The buzzy late night hot spot, which last year played host to Dublin visitors including Ariana Grande and Nick Cave, swiftly reopened having revamped its cold area, replaced its toilets, and given the much loved hostelry a bit of TLC. It’s fair to say that owner Shay Duignan managed to get the job done remarkably quickly, welcoming the hordes back when the project was completed in record time at the end of last month. Given his proven skills in project management, perhaps Shay might be persuaded to help them out with the construction of the Children’s Hospital. No better man! @haciendabardublin Ukulele Tuesday at The Stag’s Head Word has it that the Parlour Bar upstairs in the Stag’s Head is the place to be early in the week as regulars and newcomers alike are invited to learn a new skill, commune with the natives, and enjoy the surroundings of a city centre spot beloved by students, philosophers, and Dublin characters for decades. The Dame Lane boozer hosts Ukulele Tuesday from 8pm until late, with free admission and a stack of the diminutive Hawaiian instruments on hand for those who wish to participate but don’t possess their own. For a taste of what’s in store, google Psycho Killer and Ukulele Tuesday and enjoy the buzz. You’re welcome! @ukuleletuesday @stags_head_dublin Mitchelstown based microbrewery Eight Degrees Brewing recently released its newest beer – Double Irish Double IPA – in bottle format. The new pour sees the indie brewery taking their much loved Full Irish IPA, packing it with even more hops, and amping it up to 7% ABV. Described as ‘big, bold and naturally adventurous’ the new brew comes in 500ml bottles only, with its elegant malt profile working well as a hoppy accompaniment to dishes ranging from Tandoori Chicken, to spicy Char Siu and old school plates of Grilled Gammon. Having also unwrapped a brand new label design, the brewery recently released three other beers from its core range in bottle format. Howling Gale Irish Pale Ale, Citra Single Hop IPA and Full Irish IPA are all now available in both bottle and 440ml can format.
