With the average cost for a meal currently running at €285 per couple, the €190 offering from Variety Jones was revealed to be the most affordable option in the country. Established in 2018 by brothers Keelan and Aaron Higgs, the destination restaurant in the Liberties has built a solid reputation for its creative use of local, organic and seasonal ingredients, each of which have been key factors in helping it retain the Michelin star it first won in 2019. The research, which was undertaken by Alliance Online Ireland, reviewed the websites and menus of Ireland’s twenty-one Michelinstarred restaurants to establish the average price of a tasting menu for two at Ireland’s fine dining establishments. The good news for Dublin diners is that in addition to Variety Jones, the tasting menus at Bastible and D’Olier Street also featured amongst some of the lowest priced Michelin-starred eateries in the country. @varietyjones 30 Smoked salmon on brown bread, accompanied by a pint or two of creamy Guinness has long been beloved of Dublin diners, and now a tasty partnership between Kish Fish and Guinness sees a delicious new variation on the theme. First spawned by a chef at the Guinness Storehouse, the potential of a small kitchen experiment was swiftly realised by the powers that be at the iconic Dublin brewery. They lost little time in enlisting the expertise of fishmongers Tadgh and Damien O’Meara, to bring Guinness Smoked Salmon by Kish Fish into being in their sustainable smokehouse in Howth. We’re told that from start to finish the handcrafted process of curing and smoking the fish over oak, under the expert eye of master smoker Martin Hanlon, can take up to 72 hours. The result is a deliciously tender Smoked Salmon boasting a smooth mellow taste with subtle undertones. The new product can currently be enjoyed on restaurant menus at Airfield Estate, Guinness Storehouse, and Matt The Threshers, while those interested in trying out the tasty unami flavour at home, will find it at Kish Fish shops in Bow St, Coolock, Dunboyne and Howth. kishfish.ie WE’RE LOVIN’ … The sunny new Menu Del Dia which has made a welcome return to the bill of fare at Coppinger. The menu, which changes weekly, is available for lunch from Wednesday to Friday, with two courses for €15 and three courses for €20.
