TZPATRICK Marie-Thérèse - P21 (Rev It Up) A beat reminiscent of the Fun Boy Three’s version of the 1939 Jazz standard ‘It Ain't What You Do, It's The Way That You Do It’ kicks off the Dublin based, UK born singer’s latest single with a style and energy that's maintained over this stomping, modern day rockabilly groover. I’m not 100% sure what the lyrics are about but any song with a chorus of “give me one more night with you and your record collection” is good with me. PF The Coast’ brings the piano back to the forefront, building subtly but intensely with discordant strings ebbing below the lull, condensing the drama and grandeur that Godspeed You! Black Emperor have mastered to a more concise explosion of emotion. Staggering dark majesty. AOC great Kirk Degiorgio to weave his magic on ‘Ringding’. The broken beats of the jazz drums absorb throughout, with a shimmering lead synth & a gorgeous wind section, it’s sumptuous. Americhord beautifully elevates the already excellent ‘Ambop’ while Tr One brings some nasty acid to ‘Module Bone’. DC ier. It meanders in the good way a Weatherall chugger would, allowing you to get lost in the vibes and Nancy Whang's synth noodling. Hopefully a future live staple. DC Anenome - Human Remains This startling and beautiful EP from Dublin duo Anenome builds upon on the Swans infused modern folk they’ve been making a name for themselves with, delivering on the tension and release that singles like ‘Fascinate Me’ and ‘Dregs’ promised earlier in the year. Those incredible songs are included here, along with new cut ‘Oysters’, a dramatic piano motif that unfolds into shadowy strings, before the proto-industrial lope of ‘Fascinate Me’ shuffles us into greasier territory. ‘Along Neosupervital - Factory Presets It’ll be fifteen years since Neosupervitals last album release (Battery Power) when the soon-to-be-released new platter Transporter hits the shelves. Where has the electro boy wonder been? It's a mystery but he’s back behind the kit with Bell X1 again and has just released the boombastic new single ‘Factory Presets’ so all's good in the hood again. The song is about re-invigorating his musical journey and bears all the classic Neo trademarks, big phat beats, jerky instrumentation and a solid electro foundation. Welcome back! PF Awild Mind - Boys of the Choir This track is by a hobbyist Irish musician based in Clare and somehow the production is off the charts. It’s heartfelt and emotional. It’s clever and dynamic. The layers of vocals are majestically used and just resonate and resonate. It smashes the crescendo and though it could easily be longer, (sure I keep hitting repeat), it packs so much into its three minutes. If this gains any traction it will explode. DC Electric Penguins - The Snow Is Falling The Dublin based electronic duo are announcing an (as yet untitled) album due in 2025. It would break a 15 year gap to their previous album II which yielded top drawer tracks like Mother Penguin & Highgate Hill. Unlike 2023’s chunky single Oxygen, this wintry release has a more chilled, seasonal tone. The chorus floats effortlessly amidst the flurries, juxtaposed by the weightier synths in the verses. DC Zoid - Zoid Vs Musicians Vol 2 REMIXES Zoid’s very pleasing Electronic Jazz album last month quickly sold out on vinyl, here he presents five remixes. Somehow Daniel Jacobson has persuaded the LCD Soundsystem - x-ray eyes (extended trash can dub) On November 1st - tied into an announcement of three long weekends of shows in NYC - LCD dropped a single x-ray eyes, also hinting at a new album. It was very stripped back and minimal. This version is groovier and chunkAutomotion - Frenzy This single marks a considerable detour for the South London band Automotion. They have been dolling out a fine line of various types of rock, though to be fair, very far from being pigeonholed. This is verging on drum and bass or at the very least broken beats. The rapid tempo suits the visceral song title. The deep synths and clipping effects blur the lines between electronic and analogue. Their ambition is Rewarded. DC PAGE 13
