In Norrland, the north of Sweden, new large-scale factories focusing on sustainable solutions have come on stream in recent years and are in dire need of clean energy. Consequently, this makes the substantial expansion of the wind farm in Åsele an even stronger proposition. ÅSELE IS IN Västernorrland, a two-hour drive into the country from Umeå. It was here that Wallfast began operating its first two wind turbines in 2012. By 2018, the production had doubled and was equivalent to providing renewable household electricity for all 8,000 of Wallfast’s tenants in Stockholm. Storberget is the perfect spot in this respect, as the winds here are strong and reliable. As a ten-year investment, the wind farm has been profitable, generating an annual yield of around 7%.
