rates in four areas LFV's operations are divided into four areas of operation: Air Navigation Service, Total Defence and Robust Air Navigation Service, Other commercial activities, and Research and Innovation. The largest business area is air navigation services, which accounts for more than 80 percent of turnover. Other areas of operation all have a connection to and can be seen as part of LFV's assignment according to the instructions for LFV to deliver a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly air navigation service. Share of 2022 turnover: 81 % (83 %, 2021) Share of 2022 turnover: 8 % (6 %, 2021) Share of 2022 turnover: 9 % (10 %, 2021) Air navigation service The business area mainly consists of air traffic control services in Sweden. The area includes communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) services, aeronautical information and weather presentation. The services are performed for both civilian and military air traffic. In 2022, air navigation services had a total turnover of 2,264 million (2,086). This means that the area of operations accounts for 81 (83) percent of LFV's total turnover, which amounted to SEK 2,790 (2,523) million. Air navigation services are financed by en route charges 76 (75) percent, compensation from the Swedish Armed Forces 12 (12) percent and compensation for operations at civil airports 11 (11) percent. En route charges finance air navigation services in the upper airspace and, partly, air navigation services for approach and take-off and at the airports. En route and terminal charges are regulated by EU regulatory frameworks. Less than 1 (1) percent of turnover for air navigation services are attributed to the competitive part of the market in Sweden and internationally. Total Defence and Robust Air Navigation Service Since 1 October, LFV is a preparedness authority. Through its own preparedness activities and together with other transport authorities, LFV is working to contribute to a strengthened total defence. The grant Infrastructure for air navigation services is used to create additional robustness and redundancy to deliver air navigation services regardless of the level of preparedness. This work covers a wide range of actions, including relatively extensive investments. Funding is provided through two framework appropriations: Civil defence and Infrastructure for air navigation services within expenditure area 22 Communications. Income from grants amounted to SEK 213 (144) million. This corresponded to 8 (6) percent of LFV's total turnover. Other commercial activities The activities include the leasing of air traffic controllers, airspace services, technical services, environmental services, and training. LFV offers technical and operational specialist and investigative competence as well as flight safety expertise. The activities of subsidiaries aimed at external customers are also included in this area of operations. Profit participation in associated companies are also included. Turnover for the commercial activities amounted to SEK 258 (251) million, equivalent to 9 (10) percent of LFV's total turnover. LFV AN N UAL REPORT 2022
