ut cultural exchange, specifically that between Sweden and Scandinavia and Japan. As information about Japanese culture started to filter into the West in a major way with the rise of mass media in the 20th century, artists began to become inspired by the new styles they were exposed to, particularly the simple and meditative aesthetic of Japanese design.
