New Swedish Books 50 Fellowship Programmes Each y
ear, the we arrange fellowship programmes for foreign publishers and translators. The Gothenburg Book Fair We invite both foreign publishers and translators and offer a threeday programme during the book fair, taking place at the end of September, combining organised activities and time for individual meetings. We arrange talks on the Swedish publishing industry, and on a variety of literary genres, from children’s and YA to non-fiction. The programme also includes roundtable discussions with Swedish industry professionals. The participants have time for meetings with agents at the International Rights Centre, to attend seminars and panel discussions. Usually we select equal numbers of translators and publishers, 30 guests all in all, and try to match them as well as possible. The grant covers a contribution towards travel costs, and full hotel accommodation for three nights. The travel grant is SEK 2,500 for travellers from inside Europe and SEK 7,000 for travellers from outside Europe, and is paid out as soon as the application is approved. We take care of the hotel reservations and accommodate all participants in the same hotel. Also translators living in Sweden can apply, the travel grant being SEK 1 000. The Gothenburg Book Fair fellowship is an excellent opportunity to get an overview of the Swedish and Nordic literary worlds, while connecting with colleagues from all over the globe. The dates for the next fair are 24 – 27 September 2020. Applications will be accepted from 6 February on The Swedish Arts Council homepage (www.kulturradet.se). We look forward to receiving your application by midnight on 2 April 2020. New Fellowship programmes!
