ROADMAP TREE TOWN 2023 city idea. Take a leaf fro
m Leeuwarden. Actually take a tree, 1000 of them and let’s follow their ‘walking forest’ initiative which has just finished. Bosk, Dutch for a small wooded area, sees a a different part of the city centre of Leeuwarden coloured green over 100 days. “There are all sorts of things going on in the walking forest, it’s always dynamic. Residents, enterprises and local and international artists will all contribute. The forest will play with your senses and thanks to a dedicated team of hundreds of volunteers it will create a new network of interconnected roots.” At the end, the trees were planted around the city, including in low-income neighbourhoods, where greenery is scarce. Surely this is a low-hanging branch for a renewable energy provider to get behind in terms of sponsorship also. Do it, please! We’re on board already. arcadia.frl/en/projecten/bosk THE FOXHUNT Admittedly, we love a great album cover and Conor Campbell’s work for Bear’s Sonic Journals: The Foxhunt, The Chieftains Live in San Francisco 1973 & 1976 is as sympathetically stunning to the source material as it gets. It is arresting, beguiling, quaint and enchanting - harking back to a Rosc era. This never-released-before project from The Owsley Stanley Foundation and Claddagh Records is the last ever by the legendary member of The Chieftains, Paddy Moloney. Multiple reasons to treasure the sounds and work by a Dublin-based artist whose work “varies from impressionist dreamscapes to surreal studies of mythology and nature.” Bear’s Sonic Journals: The Foxhunt is released on Claddagh Records on September 2. conorcampbellart.com THE PLEASURE IS ALL OURS… kudos to the Temporary Pleasure gang for their first club intervention in the Complex last month. Packing 12 hours of possibilities midst scaffolding, TP magicked up a moment for a generation in dire need of escapism. Featuring the likes of Too Honeychild, DJ Flex Handsome and Hewan, they ripped a moment in the fabric and showed the light. We look forward to their next considered outing later in the year. 6
