exhibition Alice Fitzgerald - Form Shape Form Ins
pired by organic shapes and natural forms alongside the geometric structures, visual artist and designer Alice Fitzgerald presents Form Shapes Form, a series of six dramatic mono-colour prints that use scale and closeness to replace the order of space in an elegant, playful and direct way. “Through these idiosyncratic, elemental forms, I’m looking to strike a certain kind of balance between order and chaos, with every element part of the whole. For this series, I gave myself two rules: one colour only, and all elements must be touching another, the order of scale and closeness have replaced the order of space in my earlier work.” Each print will have a limited edition run of 20. Damn Fine Print, North Brunswick Street, D7, until Friday November 15 gig TPM Fair Halftone The annual print fair returns for its fifth edition. Bringing together artists working in disciplines whose output manifests in printed form, Halftone selects from an open call aimed at fine art printers, illustrators, designers, photographers and creatives alike. This year sees limited edition prints from curatorial duo RGKS, vibrant riso work from illustrator Claire Prouvost, and new work from photographer Brian Teeling. There are also works from contributors to our magazine Aoife Herrity, Ruth Connolly and Dorje de Burgh. Library Project until Sunday December 1 halftone.ie Performance Hania Rani Rani is a Polish composer and pianist who released Esja, her debut album this summer. It’s minimalistic, instrumental, sounds call to mind the likes of Lubomyr Melnyk, another piano pony in the Homebeat stable (promoters of this show). Indeed, most names which come to mind from this world of neo-classical tranquil tinkering are male – Max Richter, Joep Beving, Rui Massena, Lambert – so it’ll be refreshing to see Rani deliver the atmospherics on her grand piano. Pause. Relax. Unitarian Church, Saturday November 9, €22.50/€24 “Two lads on the stage talking about their mickeys. Sure how could you jive to that?” Leitrim detractors aside, plenty of ‘jiving’ is encouraged as our July cover stars bring their Heaven is a Harp-Pint tour to the big smoke. They have clocked up the Applegreens after traversing the country countless times under their TPM guise and trad offshoot, The Mary Wallopers. Featuring cute raps, bum wiggles and all the hits such as Curry Sauce, All the Boys on the Dole and Fuck RTE, yer again we recommend you Dundalk this way! Workman’s Club, Tuesday November 19, €12 88
