The Ivy Church, North Strand 15th April, 20:00 fivelampsarts.ie ART A Sod State – Eoghan Ryan Eoghan Ryan’s film installation, A Sod State, examines themes of religion, state power, and spectatorship through the lens of the Northern Irish Troubles. Showing for the first time in Ireland, the film “unravels a world of untrustworthy narration, wandering sounds, strobing imagery, and disarray. It is a tale of a corrupted, often censored, surreal, and confused state of affairs, in which an inner demagogue is manifested. This creature, or puppet, is not quite god, not quite devil, and performs binary contradictions of class, faith, identity, and borders; private, public, and political.” WIth the opening reception planned for April 12th, at 6pm, this deep, thought provoking work looks set to continue The Complex’s reputation for Stellar Programming in the heart of Smithfield. 13th - 27th April, The Gallery, Arran St East www.thecomplex.ie FESTIVAL Festival of Gardens & Nature Bringing together a hugely diverse group of speakers from the worlds of contemporary garden design, horticulture, historic gardens and nature conservation, speaking on topics including meadows, sustainable floral design, biodynamic food growing, the healing effect of horticulture, the power of scent, and the joy of colour in a garden.
