PHOTOGRAPHY Silent City Anti-social Housing (2016
) Constructed in 1954, these blocks of now-demolished flats at Dublin’s O’Devaney Gardens had been on death row for a number of years when I took this image in 2016. The early summer of that year saw a series of fires in the empty blocks that had become commonplace. On this occasion, whilst walking my dog Vera I came across another instance of arson. The complex was deserted and eerily silent as the white smoked almost seemed to descend from the upperfloor. I had the place to myself. The fire brigade hadn’t been alerted and the local pyromaniacs had probably gone home for their tea. 13th of April - 21st of July 2024 The Print Gallery ART Like the Light at the Beginning of the World “Describing a primordial and impossible emanation of light.” Bringing together twelve artists’ pieces on a show centered on this concept. ’Like the Light at the Beginning of the World’ takes place at the Kerlin Gallery, over the month of April and a little of May.
