in X Asia Market Surf the Wave The world’s first Triple Wave Filtered Vodka recently teamed up with electronic music venue SILO to launch White Claw Vodka in Ireland. ‘Filtered three times using the equivalent pressure of three 30-foot waves’, the drink is available at SILO in a choice of Premium, Black Cherry, and Pineapple flavours. Revellers are encouraged to concoct their favourite new bevvie by mixing the vodka with any flavour of White Claw Hard Seltzer to create a signature new pour called The Super Claw. Sure why not? @whiteclawireland It was on a trip to China that PJ Rigney was first inspired to distil an oriental-inspired Irish gin using gunpowder tea as its principal botanical. Now, in a nice hat tip to its origins, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is teaming up with Asia Market for an immersive cocktail-making collab as part of this year’s Lunar New Year festivities. Under the expert stewardship of the gin’s global brand ambassador Cian Wrynne and mixologist Gary Quinn, participants will be tutored in making a brace of Asian-influenced drinks using a choice of one of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin’s four different editions, or Nikka Japanese Whiskey as a base. Cocktail lovers then get to select their favourite botanicals from the twelve used to produce Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, which will be infused in a teapot and added to their gin to create a personalised cocktail. The ‘Snake In The Glass’ Cocktail Class takes place from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday Jan 30th in J. T. Pim’s on South Great George’s Street. Tickets €50pp + booking fee via Asia Market on Eventbrite. Red Marks The Spot Mitchell & Son recently opened their newest store at The Vaults on Harcourt Street, which was the setting for the pre-Christmas launch of the latest addition to its beloved Spot range. Imbibers over the years have included Samuel Beckett, who was partial to a drop of Green Spot, and James Joyce who rated the Yellow Spot Pot Still as his particular favourite. Now, even at this early stage, Red Spot 19 Year Old Single Cask looks set to become a much coveted expression of the illustrious legacy. Described as ’a rare masterpiece’ it opens with rich and warming notes of freshly stewed fruits with cinnamon and light dustings of nutmeg. Earthy and herbal aromas, accompanied by tobacco leaf, add further depth and complexity, while the pot still spices are complemented by the Marsala wine seasoned oak, creating vibrant notes of liquorice and cracked walnut. With a release limited to 603 bottles, it’s definitely a rare one, and comes with a price to match, retailing at €670 per bottle. mitchellandson.com Are you free? so are we!
