Kerry Mahony CLUBBING Spring has sprung us all th
e way back to the dancefloor as we welcome another explosive month of music. March sees headline shows from some of the most exciting names in electronic music right now, stacked lineups of local heroes, and immersive audio-visual experiences to celebrate the Paddy’s weekender. On March 7, Freddy K makes his anticipated return to Dublin. The Key Vinyl label boss, who has earned a reputation as one of the most sought after and respected DJs of our time, will be playing a headline set in Wigwam basement. Over in Yamamori Tengu on the same night, RATHAUS and Research are partnering to host Ukrainian DJ and producer Supergloss for her Dublin debut. With a trashy beach-club theme, expect scorching techno and killer performances from RATHAUS’s resident dancers. Hot n’ sweaty vibes guaranteed. March 8 sees the second of Spray’s three-show residency in Tengu, where he has invited Naone for her Irish debut. Prepare for freakiness, breaks, prog, cosmic trance, hypnotic techno, and everything in between. The same night, Dublin native and techno stalwart Tommy Holohan headlines Index, whose team recently headed across the river when they relocated to The Academy on Middle Abbey Street. March 16 sees the bank holiday festivities in full swing with a whopper St Patrick’s Eve party from Subject. Taking over Wigwam’s full venue, the party is headlined by Detroit techno and electro heavyweight DJ Stingray 313. Also on the lineup are dynamic turntable technicians 38 slin and Tarkno playing B2B, along with a banging selection of Dublin’s finest techno talent. Also on March 16 is Dutch-based DJ and producer TAFKAMP; their first time playing in Tengu’s famed club. On support is Síofra, a Dublin-based local held in high regard as one of the top selectors in the city. St Patrick’s Day, March 17, sees Subject and Research team up to throw a ten-hour day to night warehouse party in The Complex. The stacked lineup includes Research boss Aeron XTC, Subject residents Ayolxi & Cailín, fast rising CULT & JenTen and Reclaim The Mainframe residents Prowl & Accomplice, accompanied by live visuals from AXXS. On March 28, IMOGEN and EMA take over Tengu for a party that’s guaranteed to have the club on wheels. IMOGEN, known for dystopian electro, rumbling bass, UK techno and choppy breaks, will be accompanied by Woozy founder, Tengu boss, and Skin&Blister co-founder EMA, who has built a formidable reputation thanks to championing low-end frequencies and forward-thinking club culture. Rounding off the month on March 29, Marlon Hoffstadt (AKA DJ Daddy Trance) headlines SILO. The Berlin-based DJ and producer has risen to become one of the biggest names in electronic music right now, known for his euphoric and Eurodance-inspired sound. Taking us into April is the last of Spray’s Tengu residency on April 5: Spray B2B Spriitzz All Night Long. This time he’s putting on two hats and going B2B with his alter ego/ other half/evil twin, Spriitzz. Heaven for prog heads.
