Kicking off is brill Cork act Pebbledash who expertly weave noise and trad and Dublin outfit Ten Hail Marys who make the kind of moody, intense guitar based music we love here at Goo HQ. Stay Human Fundraiser - Whelans - Oct 9th Some of Ireland’s best loved sing4 er songwriters have come together for another gig to raise much needed funds for the Stay Human Collective, Brian Brannigan from a lazarus soul, Nina Hynes, Alice Jago, Arrivalists, including a VERY SPECIAL GUEST (the apple of our eye) from Dublin town. The Stay Human Collective is a grassroots mutual aid initiative which emerged when a small group of Irish, Italian, English and Palestinian family and friends began emergency crowdfunding to provide food, water, and essential supplies for families in Jabalia, Northern Gaza. A vital night. Hayley Kavanagh Sextet - Arthurs - Oct 9th Tenor saxophonist Hayley Kavanagh leads a seven-piece band in a live performance of Mode for Joe, the 1966 Blue Note album by Joe Henderson which is considered a landmark recording in post-bop jazz. The project is a personal one as Henderson remains one of Kavanagh’s key influences and the players are kick-ass. Highly recommended. General Levy - The Racket Space - Oct 10th London born ragga DJ flys in for his first Dublin gig in over 5 years. Levy featured on many sound systems in the late 1980s and early 1990s, such as Java One love and Tippertone Sound. And is recognised as one of the top game changing MC’s in the UK. Sack - The Complex - Oct 11th The Dublin indie band are having a major renaissance at the moment. Their ‘comeback’ album Wake Up People! was in many critics top albums of 2024 and now they’ve just signed a deal with the German label GMO to release this (and back catalogue albums) throughout Europe and Japan. Tonight they celebrate this - and the release of a limited vinyl 7inch release of new single ‘Unmade Bed’ - with a show in the uber cool Smithfield event space.
