BITESIZE Words: Pelle Tamleht Savoj at Stockholms
verken The soon-to-be-launched pizzeria at Stockholmsverken will be the second restaurant masterminded by brothers Jonathan and Andreas Azizsson, sons of the founder of Jönköping’s legendary pizzeria Alcamo. Savoj is synonymous with Neapolitan pizza, but also offers smaller dishes and natural wines. The new restaurant, housed in the Stockholmsverken block on Södermalm, will have the same concept as their current Vasastan outlet, but will also serve lunch. “It feels incredibly fun to be able to open another restaurant, we really like the industrial architecture at Stockholmsverken, and are so much looking forward to opening another Savoj here,” says Jonathan. Savoj opens at Magnus Ladulåsgatan 4 in January. The restaurant will be 300 square metres, and have around 75 seats. Camilla Hamid has opened a café Baking and pastry influencer Camilla Hamid has opened her first café. The address is Torsgatan 31, and the first few days proved to be a barnstorming success. We just hope the hype will eventually calm down, so that the place doesn’t keep selling out long before closing time and we have a chance to buy something. Sweets by Camilla is open daily, excluding Mondays. From Västerås to Stockholm After three years in Västerås, it’s time for Stefan Taylor to pack up his recipes and move to Stockholm. Now his tasting menu concept Essence has opened on Kungsholmen. “The move was partly due to me wanting to be where the guests for a concept like this reside, and partly due to the fact that it’s an achievement in itself to be located in Stockholm, together with some of the world’s best restaurants,” Taylor says. The location is Hjalmar Söderbergs väg 10, and the restaurant can host 16 guests per night. “My philosophy has always been very simple. I want to create my own dishes, and cook the best food I can with the best ingredients available, with as few constraints as possible. To make sure that we have enough time to make the little adjustments and get all the small details just right, we have chosen to have a small restaurant with no more than 16 guests per night,” Taylor continues. The menu sets you back 1,750 kronor, excluding drinks, and will be an ever-changing tasting menu in eight servings. 22
