THE LION’S DEN AFTER 13 YEARS OF REST, LEIJONTORN
ET HAS WOKEN UP, STRETCHED A BIT, AND RETAKEN ITS RIGHTFUL PLACE AS THE KING OF THE STOCKHOLM RESTAURANT JUNGLE. WITH RESTAURANT GENIUS DANIEL CRESPI AS ITS CAPTAIN, IT’S PRIMED TO BE THE COMEBACK OF THE YEAR. Words and photos: Joakim Brage-Gumpert Leijontornet makes a welcome return on the same adress where the same people for 20 years has run several acclaimed restaurant concepts. By going back to its roots, the new Leijontornet is billed as the sum of all those years and endeavors, created for hedonists and wine lovers. The food is incredibly well-prepared, and packed with pleasurable flavours, but concurrently it’s very 8 balanced and elegant. As Crespi says himself: “the new Leijontornet is a gastronomic mix of the things we’ve cooked up at Djuret, Leijontornet 12 x 8, the Burgundy, La Niña, and so on, over the last decade. We’re actually not opening a dogmatic, so-called ‘fine dining’ restaurant, but rather a restaurant and wine bar with a large ’a la carte menu, and a fourcourse seasonal menu. A place where we cook all our favourites from scratch, with an unlimited amount of love, and all the tricks in the playbook. Everything is accompanied by the option of one of several thousand wines from our cellar. We’re aiming to erase gastronomic boundaries, and weave wine-friendly, priceworthy and super-soft gastro tapestry, that everyone can enjoy.”
