taurant opens in Stockholm The very popular Chinese street food restaurant Köket Lu will open on Nytorget on Södermalm during the spring of 2024. “We have been asked about once a week, since we opened, if we want to take our restaurant to Stockholm,” says Luong Lu, the owner. Köket Lu first opened four years ago in Davidshall in Malmö. Within a year they had scooped up Nöjesguiden’s award for the best restaurant in Malmö. “We have always cooked fantastic food at home and that’s where the idea comes from. To show off the food culture my parents, now especially my mother, carry with them. The concept comes from Hong Kong and I don’t like to use the word ’authentic’ but in this case I have to. We wanted to produce the authentic cuisine, that we knew did not exist here,” Lu explains. Köket Lu opens at Nytorget in early 2024. A new concept at Clarion Brasserie Nòr is a new restaurant concept that has been established with locations within the hotels of the Strawberry hotel group, and now the time has come for one to open up on Södermalm. “Nòr is a restaurant for all occasions, something we felt was missing in this part of Södermalm,” says Ida-Maja Tejle, General Manager at Clarion Hotel Stockholm. The food consists of Nordic classics with a modern touch, and the menu includes both a constantly updated a la carte-menu, and a few dishes of the day. “Together with my team we strive to create food experiences that unite classic dishes with the best of our local raw produce,” says Laura Camino, head chef at Clarion Hotel Stockholm. The cocktail menu is an homage to some of the world’s most acclaimed hotel bars and the wine list focusses on wines from France, Italy and Spain. Nòr opened on Södermalm a couple of months ago, and the Clarion Hotel Amaranten on Kungsholmen is the next scheduled opening in the near future. 24 Melanders in a new Södermalm location Melander’s first restaurant and fish shop outside of Östermalmshallen opened back in 1992 at the same time as Söderhallarna. But now, as the Medborgarplatsen building is being renovated for the next few years, Melanders have had to move to new premises. At the end of November, they opened the doors to a new location, at the corner of Åsögatan and Götgatan. It is a fish and seafood restaurant, as well as a bar with smaller dishes and a fish counter that sells fresh goodies from the sea. “Our knowledge about fish and seafood has been built up over 35 years in the business. Through this opening we hope to keep our old guests from Söderhallarna, as well as finding a completely new target group,” says Stefan Söderman, managing director of the Melander Group. Melanders Söder is open Monday to Thursday, 10:0022:00, and Fridays and Saturdays until 23:00.
