New Swedish Books 48 Göteborg Book Fair Fellowshi
p Programme Each year, we arrange a fellowship programme for foreign publishers and translators at the Göteborg Book Fair at the end of September. We offer a three-day programme, combining organised activities and free time for individual meetings. We arrange talks on the Swedish publishing industry, and on a variety of literary genres, from children’s and YA to non-fiction. The programme also includes round-table discussions with Swedish industry professionals. The content differs from year to year. Participants have time for meetings with agents at the International Rights Centre, to attend seminars and panel discussions, or simply to browse among the exhibiting publishers at the fair. In 2018 124 applications were received and we were able to accommodate 34 participants from 20 countries. The grant covers a contribution towards travel costs, and full hotel accommodation for three nights. The travel grant is SEK 2 500 for travellers from inside Europe and SEK 7 000 for travellers from outside Europe, and is paid out as soon as the application is approved. We take care of the hotel reservations and accommodate all participants in the same hotel. The Göteborg Book Fair fellowship is an excellent opportunity to get an overview of the Swedish and Nordic literary worlds, while connecting with colleagues from all over the globe. Application deadline for the Göteborg Book Fair Programme 2019 is 5 April. The dates for the fair are 26–29 September. Application forms are available on the Swedish Literature Exchange homepage: www.swedishliterature.se 26–29 September 2018.
