RTNERSHIP BETWEEN WALLFAST & SKANSKA “In my role as both environmental manager for the Group and CEO of AB Cisterna, I was responsible for the entire Gåshaga project and sat in numerous and lengthy negotiations with Skanska, which ultimately became the partner we chose for this project. This collaboration is still ongoing and developing today. One of the principal reasons we chose Skanska as a partner is that we respect each other’s skills and experience and have the ability to let things take a little longer if needed,” says Jonas Kleberg. FOR THE PRESENT Ekerö Strand project, the tables have turned. Now, Skanska is the initiator and they invited Wallfast. However, there are some similarities too. Ekerö isn’t quite the challenge that Gåshaga was in the beginning, but there were still several smaller industrial buildings and contaminated soil in the area, making a clean-up necessary. “We saw the Ekerö Strand project as a great opportunity for collaboration with Skanska again. At Wallfast we don’t have the same vast in-house resources when it comes to construction and entrepreneurial work, but Skanska truly has the whole chain of expertise, from marketing and sales to actual construction,” says Christer Nilsson, Project Developer at Wallfast. Jonas Kleberg CEO, Soya Group “Skanska and Wallfast bring different approaches to the table. Wallfast is more of a long-term property manager, while at Skanska, we have lots of entrepreneurial knowledge,” says Annika Stridh. AROUND 2030 or so, when Ekerö Strand is completed, there will be up to 500 apartments ready for residents at an idyllic spot on the shore of Lake Mälaren. An old abandoned industrial area will have been transformed into a new attractive neighbourhood, built in a sustainable way with great care for the surroundings. A welldefined and forward-thinking environmental policy is another thing Wallfast and Skanska have in common. “We are ‘beautifying’ the area while at the same time turning it into a nice place to live. We manage to complement one another in a really good way, and I think both of us agree that our mutual trust is key. We have faith in each other and we’re both really strong, solid companies,” concludes Christer Nilsson. Gåshaga Pirar while still an area for oil storage.
