Since new, larger ships were a must if efficiency was to be increased, SOL realized that it needed a partner. Hence, SOL contacted Wallenius Lines. “Both SOL and Wallenius are experts in industrial shipping, and we complement each other well. In this collaboration, SOL primarily contributes with commercial and operational knowledge. Our competence within ship design, new building, ship owning including financing, and efficient ship management will contribute to the success of WALLENIUS SOL,” says Anders Thyberg, Senior Vice President at Wallenius Lines and board member of WALLENIUS SOL. Wallenius and SOL worked intensively together for a while before taking the collaboration to the next level. The new company WALLENIUS SOL, owned in equal parts by the two founding companies, Anders Thyberg Senior Vice President, Wallenius Lines was launched in April 2019. “We are used to long-term partnerships where collaboration creates unique strengths. The investment in WALLENIUS SOL is something we believe strongly in. We can contribute with our expertise in an extremely interesting industry,” says Anders Thyberg. Since several charter and terminal contracts will expire in 2021, it is not a reach to predict even more agreements are coming WALLENIUS SOL’s way.
