Pinecones, pine needles, dewcups, acorns and blueberry bushes… In Who Sees Dim? Maria Nilsson Thore has plunged headfirst into a Swedish forest, and crawled so close it’s like looking at nature through a magnifying glass. Down there the tiny little creature Dim lives, so small that the people can’t see him. For Dim, mushrooms are as big as trees and blueberries like enormous exercise balls. The story is about wanting to be noticed and included. Dim does everything he can to make people discover him, but they just plod along on the hunt for blueberries. At the same time, it’s also about the importance of stopping and looking around you among the leaves and branches. Maria Nilsson Thore’s watercolours are beautiful and atmospheric. There’s room for all the shades of green, yellow, pink, muted brown and purple that the autumn forest holds. Who Sees Dim? triggers your imagination and awakens a longing for fresh air and mushroom picking excursions. Photo: Ulrica Zwenger
