Scene News FEARGHAL CURTIS QUEER Pride in Death -
A Chat with Strangers LGBT Ireland, Irish Hospice Foundation and All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care are putting on this special evening which allows people from the queer community to come together and discuss the difficult subject of death. Death is not often discussed within the queer community and this unique event opens up a space for people to share any fears, worries, thoughts or questions around death. The event takes place at Dublin LGBTQ Pride Hub on the 24th of August from 18:00 - 20:00. This is a free event and you can register on Eventbrite. @lgbtireland_ie Well what a summer it has been! From a stellar series of Pride celebrations across the country to our favourite festivals, and new and diverse queer night outs popping up, there have been so many incredible events, festivals and gigs! Sam’s Collective Another little shout out for Sam’s Collective which is continuously growing in the most beautiful way. If you haven’t heard of this open mic night, I encourage you to take yourself out for an evening of music, drag, spoken word, poetry and so much more. Sam of Sam’s Collective puts on these events regularly, and you can check them out at their new home on the 27th of August at Wigwam. Candlelight Cabaret The Candlelight Cabaret returns to Lost Lane, Dublin on the 2nd of September for the aptly themed “Back to School Party” night. Expect a variety of performers from burlesque to pole dancing to live vocals, and such more. This night always gets rave reviews and is one of the most diverse nights happening in Dublin! QueerMania Dinner Party QueerMania is known for its concert-style events, however this time they are debuting a new event: A Dinner Show! If you have been to a QueerMania event before, the show will feature some familiar faces to the QueerMania family, and this time you will get to enjoy a main course dinner and PAGE 38 B3NDER: FRESH MEAT B3ENDER: FRESH MEAT is the newest, up and coming drag show which leans into the oddity and punk element of drag. It connects back with one of the core reasons drag exists and that is giving “a Wigwam. As I research what events to share in this column, I have seen Wigwam putting on more and more queer events.
