The Goo 1
JUNE-JULY 2022 SOME NEWS As part of the bands 40t
h anniversary, Paranoid Visions are recording a new track called ‘40 years in 45 minutes’ to be added to 4 rerecording’s of tracks from the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and 10’s and released as red vinyl 12” single, it will be bundled with a compilation CD of one track from every release the band has ever done with sleeve notes. The release will be launched later this summer and there will be a gig to celebrate with VERY special guests. Not content with having FOAD Musick and Advance Records Distribution, the band are now launching The Advance Records Label. Inspired by the uniformity and collectability of the early Crass label releases, Advance will be releasing a SOME RECORDS SNUFF - CREPUSCOLO DORATO DELLA BRUSCHETTA BORSETTA CALZETTA CACCHETTA TROMBETTA LAMBRETTA GIALLO OSSIDO, OOOOOOH COSÌ MAGNIFICO! (SBAM Records) Despite a(nother) new line up this has that unmistakable SNUFF sound. Punk hardcore but with a strict Northern Soul feel in there somewhere. They continue with their tongue twisting record titles and include their conventional unconventional singalong style. RIP ROOM - Alight and Resound (Spartan Records) Art Punk in that Devo style with some Unwound guitar work and a Fugazi rhythm to back up the Sleater Kinney-esque vocals, this is a debut to remember. Other times it’s like Gang Of Four playing some math rock. Alight and Resound is a plea for people to stop wallowing in their own world and work on a way of making us all feel part of the world. JAMES DOMESTIC- Carrion Repeating (Kibou Records/TNS Records) Take a Drum machine, and programme some beats. Get your guitar out and play an odd chord. Pick out a synth and play some noise. That all becomes a post punk acerbic mix which is the base for Carrion Repeating. James Domestic is better know for fronting some raging hardcore punk noisemongers but this time around his sardonic lyrics tell a tale that Ian Dury would be proud of. PAGE 39 series of coloured vinyl 10” records in classic Crass style poster sleeves. Bands already signed up for the series are TV Smith with Paranoid Visions (Cheap Songs), Rubella Ballet and Andy T and will be followed by some more underground Irish and international bands. The label will also be releasing a Bullshit Detector (the highly significant and inspirational series of compilations that Crass released in the early 1980’s) styled compilation of tracks by various artists, released on CD and retailing for only €2 (in the spirit of the bullshit series!). The first of these is called The Dirt Behind the Daydream 2022 (following on from the influential and unique series of cassette FOAD released in the early 90’s) and is already underway and seeking submissions from local and international artists.
