New Swedish Books 10 Brothers The narrator of Bro
thers is a philosopher and author living in Gothenburg. The novel follows two brothers, the narrator and Kimo. Kimo is dying, he’s been an addict for years, been inside, had a pretty messed up life. The narrator decides to write about him, and about himself: an honest, candid book. Motturi is an author who is well aware of the inner workings of writing – structures, thoughts, dramatic threads, underlying linguistic and philosophical systems. The emotionally powerful, intellectually resonant novel that emerges is very complex. It focuses on the brothers and on the narrative itself, on human solidarity, politics, contemporary life. On the desire to show, to tell, and on the fact that that itself is a way of connecting.
