She has written a beautiful, painful book of a child’s sorrow and longing for her mother. Death, whenever and however it comes, is surprising and overwhelming. It consumes your thoughts and colours everything you do and see. Felicia Stenroth’s poetry collection is a tale in repetitive fragments about a mother and a daughter, about women and children, and about all at once freeing yourself from everything oppressing you, from life – and being captured by death. The poems are precise in their language, luminously matter-of-fact. Each poem stands alone like a sign – an image of the theme at hand: of sorrow and loss, for one a loss of meaning, for another the unburdening of meaninglessness. Photo: Angelica Zander
