Why am I not always nice towards the one I like? Why do we have to die? Each child tells a story of the situation that has given rise to the question. Then the reader encounters an equal number of famous philosophers who have tried to answer these eternal questions, and are guided through the way they have thought and expressed themselves. It’s abstract and factual, small and big, about questions that concern all of us and always have done throughout time. The book offers no answers, but forces the reader to think. And even though the thinking children portrayed on the pages often are depicted as lonely in the phenomenal, bleak drawings, the reading still leaves you with a sense of connection.
