NT TO RESEARCH LFV’s primary role is to provide safe, efficient and environmentally friendly air navigation services for civil and military aviation. LFV should also work to ensure that the transport policy objectives are achieved. LFV is a state-owned enterprise that provides air traffic management and other related services in Sweden and abroad. To meet increasing requirements for capacity, availability and sustainability, LFV is developing innovative services and concepts. LFV is also participating in the development of European airspace through collaborations and partnerships. LFV has around 1, 100 employees and had a turnover of 3.2 billion SEK in 2018. AVIATION SAFETY Aviation safety is LFV’s top priority and permeates the entire organisation. LFV works pro-actively to continually develop aviation safety work – it is a natural part of LFV’s processes and working methods. OPERATIONS AND CUSTOMERS LFV’s operations consist of three main lines of business: air navigation services, research and innovation, and other commercial services. Air navigation services represent more than 90 percent of our revenue. Supply is then divided into five delivery areas based on LFV’s customer groups: en route, the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish free market, Swedavia and the international market. AIR NAVIGATION SERVICES En route air traffic management En route air traffic management includes air navigation services in the upper airspace from control centres in Stockholm and Malmö. Operational services in the upper airspace within the Danish-Swedish airspace block is provided by NUAC, a company owned together with Naviair in Denmark. LFV makes control centres and infrastructure available to NUAC as part of it daily operational work. Local air traffic management LFV performs local air traffic management at 20 airports in Sweden, from Kiruna in the North to Malmö in the South. LFV works close to customers for the long term to create complete solutions that support the customer's business and operations. The services also include remote air traffic management – Remote Tower Services (RTS). CNS services LFV is a certified supplier of CNS (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) services. In addition to supplying CNS for en-route services, LFV has for a long time been providing technical equipment for local air traffic management. Flight information and weather presentation In Sweden, LFV is responsible for sharing and publishing aeronautical information for both civil and military aviation. LFV provides airspace users with information about regulations, maps, routes, radio frequencies, navigation aids, flight procedures and weather. Additionally, LFV provides the Swedish Armed Forces with source data, flight procedures, and other services. RESEARCH AND INNOVATION LFV conducts its own extensive work in research and innovation, but also within the framework of various collaborations with universities and other authorities and organisations. The work is based on a number of strategic development areas, with the goal of developing new concepts and solutions for improving safety, efficiency, capacity, accessibility and sustainability. Most of the funding for LFV’s research is provided by the Swedish Transport Administration and Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. 6
