film BOVALLSTRAND Charming idyllic place with salty baths, nice walking areas and hiking trails The charming old fishing village of Bovallstrand has its roots dating back to the 16th century. The name is said to originate from the settlement by the beach. It’s easy to stay active in Bovallstrand. Here, you’ll find proximity to both exercise tracks and hiking trails, and, of course, close access to swimming and boating activities. There is also a nice guest harbour. The most distinctive attraction in Bovallstrand is Badholmarna, with its characteristic green and white bathing huts from the 1930s, wooden diving towers, and wooden bridges connecting the cliffs. There are also small sandy beaches and breathtaking cliffside bathing spots with a magical view of the sunset. The heart of Bovallstrand is located at the square, where you’ll find a liar’s bench and cozy old boathouses. During the summer, there are restaurants, an ice cream kiosk, a bakery, and clothing stores here. The modern year-round grocery store is situated on the outskirts of the village. Bovallstrand is a gem that is truly worth visiting all year round. Also, be sure to take a look inside the beautiful little church. Just north of Bovallstrand is KKV - Konstnärernas Kollektivverkstad (Artists’ Collective Workshop) with exhibitions ranging from sculpture to painting, stone, and textiles. Here you’ll also find the wellknown Gerlesborgsskolan - the most important cultural center in Bohuslän. 28 Visit Smögen &
