Journalists protects the idealistic interests of
its members, such as by protecting freedom of expression, freedom of the press, the professional ethics of journalism and author’s rights. Journalists who have been active outside of Sweden but have a temporary or permanent residence permit can apply to be associate members of the Swedish Union of Journalists. Members have access to legal support, insurance and training, and also receive the Journalisten magazine. The Swedish Union of Journalists also issues press cards. Website: www.sjf.se The Swedish Artists’ Association During their residency period in Sweden, artists in residence are offered free membership with the Swedish Artists’ Association. The organisation represents professional visual artists, artistic craftsmen and designers in Sweden, promoting artistic freedom and good financial and social situations for visual artists. Membership allows artists to access what the organisation can offer in the form of consultation, courses and other benefits. Website: www.kro.se The Swedish Arts Grants Committee The Swedish Arts Grants Committee is a governmental authority tasked with promoting opportunities for artists to be able to develop their arts, and to support artistic development and innovative culture. The Committee also analyses and disseminates knowledge about artists’ financial and social situations and monitors the way the social security system is designed and applied in relation to artistic work. The Swedish Arts Grants Committee allocates a wide range of scholarships and grants to professional artists in the visual, dance, film, music and theatre fields. The support they provide is mainly intended for individual freelance artists living in Sweden and/or carrying out their artistic activity here.
