DIRE C T OR S ’ REPOR T L F V 2019 ELISE – ELECTR
IC AIR TRANSPORT IN SWEDEN ELISE is a Swedish initiative that runs in project form with the help of Vinnova funding. It is headed by Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg. LFV, together with other parties, including Saab, GKN Aerospace and the Swedish aviation sector, plays and advisory role. The goal is to develop a certified electric plane that can fly 400 km by the year 2025. The idea is that it will be possible to use electric flight for short and medium distances and ultimately to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, as well as decrease noise and other emissions. In March 2019, a phase 2 application as submitted to Vinnova in the ELISE project. The plan is to build up a consortium within industry and academics that establishes conditions for development of electric planes. LFV has offered to participate as a reference group member together with GKN and Saab. For LFV's part, the commitment is part of monitoring the surrounding world and contact with the industry that illustrates customers' future needs. Sweden has good conditions for developing an electric plane because we are, in many ways, a pioneer within environmental efforts, there is an aviation industry and we are source of innovation and new technology. Sweden would hold up well in the global competition of electric plane production. 39
