DIRE C T OR GENERAL ' S S T ATEMENT L F V 2019 LF
V PURCHASES PART OF ELTEL NETWORKS In June, LFV and Eltel Networks signed a declaration of intent specifying that LFV will purchase Eltel's Swedish business area Aviation & Security. The business area is largely responsible for operation and support of LFV's operative system. Based on a sourcing strategy, the work to resume total defense capability, a changing situation in the surrounding world and the new Protective Security Act's conditions, LFV determined that operations should take place under LFV's management. The work is in progress and we are awaiting a formal decision from the government and the Swedish Competition Authority in order to conclude the business. The goal is that the business area will become part of LFV's corporate group during the second quarter of 2020. WE NEED MORE STAFF IN LFV Employee surveys are a good indicator of a company's health. All index figures in this year's survey have increased, which is positive. We are still working with the results where the focus areas are to strengthen the staff and management. Our responsibility for air traffic control and infrastructure in Sweden means that we have a need for many different areas of expertise. We are also building a new LFV with responsibility for air traffic control in all preparedness situations, and will have an increased scope of the subsidized activity and several large projects and investments will be implemented in the coming years. On the whole, we need more staff and see a need for air traffic controllers, engineers, IT experts and other specialists. We offer an attractive workplace where we work together to create smart solutions for tomorrow's flights. In this context, recruitment campaigns were carried out during the year to draw interest to LFV. Among other things, we have received nearly 900 applications for air traffic controller training. SWEDEN NEEDS A NEW AIRSPACE In 2018 LFV was commissioned by the government to conduct a detailed study of the Swedish airspace. The report was submitted to the government in the middle of May 2019. In the report, we identified the need for an airspace strategy that includes flights to the country's airports that are more environmentally-efficient, systems and services for unmanned flights and a modernisation of Stockholm's airspace. The ongoing development of the remaining airspace should continue within the scope of European airspace development. With respect to the Stockholm area, increased traffic in combination with the Swedish Armed Forces' needs in the same airspace has created a highly complex situation that must be managed in order to ensure high and robust capacity. For Stockholm, the financing in the amount of SEK 50 million that LFV received in 2017 to build a new radar in Uppsala. The investment has made it easier to obtain LFV's consent to high-rise construction in the Stockholm area. There is a great deal happening in the surrounding world and we are developing LFV to meet the new requirements and expectations that are placed on us. This applies to development of our capability of delivering air traffic management in all preparedness situations, focus on our core operations and delivery to our customers. At the same time, we are developing our commercial side and staking on the companies that are part of the corporate group. All of this requires a good internal capability and systematic and regular monitoring and analysis of the surrounding world. We believe that the development will continue and leave its mark on the 2020s. Ann Persson Grivas, LFV Director General 5 There is a great deal happening in the surrounding world and we are developing LFV to meet the new requirements and expectations that are placed on us.
