AVIATION SAFETY AVIATION SAFETY INDEX, ASI 4 –––
2015 ––– 2016 ––– 2017 3 LFV's goal is for ASI to be less than 3. 2 1 0 Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec The aviation safety index, ASI, is used to continuously control LFV’s exposure to risk. Separation minima infringements and runway incursions are assessed on the basis of severity and how LFV has affected the events. The assessments are made by means of Risk Analysis Tool, RAT, a tool that has been developed by Eurocontrol. Data is set in relation to the number of aircraft movements handled by LFV to form an aviation safety index. LFV's goal is for ASI to be less than three. The objective for 2017 was achieved, which entails that LFV’s aviation safety is very good. <3 3 Three thousand deviation reports were written in 2017. LFV ANNUAL REPORT 2017 debriefing before and after a work shift, are also parts of the aviation safety culture. LFV's goal is for ASI to be less than 3. Follow-up Every report concerning aviation safety are collected, analysed, and processed. Conclusions and recommendation form the base for improvements and developments of working methods and aviation safety issues. In 2017 almost 3,000 reports from LFV employees arrived, compared to 2,220 they previous year. It is very positive for the aviation safety work. LFV’s aviation safety culture encourage every employee to report everything deviating from normal. The reports are continuously followed-up and form the base for in-depth analyses. During the year slightly above 20 incident investigations has been conducted to analyse impacting factors and carry out measures to increase aviation safety. The investigation are directed to causes and affecting factors in a larger context, rather than focusing on individual performance and contributions. International collaborations All global aviation safety work is issued by the UN aviation body ICAO, which resides in Montreal. The members of the ICAO are states, and almost every country is represented. LFV participates actively in European aviation safety work through bodies including Eurocontrol and CANSO. Safety groups within these organisations collaborate on the development and dissemination of best practices and the development of EU regulations, in dialogue with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). 21
