ANNUAL REPORT 2017 The Year in Brief
THE YEAR IN BRIEF presented its national aviation
strategy in January, the appointment of an Arlanda Airport council, was a strategic venture. LFV is represented in the council through Director General Ann Persson Grivas. New tower in Vidsel The 30th August the new flight control tower in FMV Vidsel Test Range was installed. With a new tower and a new location, LFV’s controllers get a better working environment, as well as better possibilities to serve the customer. More secure environment data The environment is always a current issue for aviation and LFV continues to drive sustainability issues in connection to the airspace. In spring 2017 LFV, the Swedish Transport Agency, and the Swedish Defense Research Agency completed a project for secure calculation of the emissions from Swedish aviation, and better analyses during future changes in the airspace. With a base of developed data systems, we get even better tools for reducing the environmental impact of aviation. Another year with increased traffic 2017 became another year when the traffic in the Swedish airspace increased. The total number of movements was 762,000, which is an increase of almost 5 per cent. Overflights grew the most (traffic which does not start or land in Sweden). LFV’s business LFV has signed an agreement with Aero Thai regarding support for the installation of a new system for air traffic management in Thailand. The demand for LFV’s consultancy services within the air traffic management area, covering support for environment processes, taking environment certificates into operation, and other guidance to airports, is generally increasing. In Denmark, LFV has received renewed confidence for flight inspection commissions. LFV 70 years In 2017 LFV celebrated the state-owned enterprise's 70 years as the largest provider of air traffic management services in Sweden. In 1946, the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration proposed that the authority should be reorganised into a state-owned enterprise and that aviation in principle should carry its own costs. The government approved the proposal regarding the state-owned enterprise and 1 July 1947, Luftfartsverket was formed, encompassing the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration and the airport organisation. For 70 years we have provided smart services and made safe aviation possible in the Swedish airspace.
