RIEF Agreement with Swedavia At the end of November 2017 LFV and Swedavia signed an agreement regarding remote air traffic services (RTS or Remote Tower Services) at four of Swedavia's airports. The four airports are Kiruna, Umeå, Östersund and Malmö.The control center for RTS will be located in connection to LFV’s other operations at Arlanda. The proximity of Swedavia's operative management center at Arlanda was aprerequisite for the agreement. The Swedish Armed Forces has consented to a transfer to remote air traffic services at the airports in question. Agreement on Bällsta radar To solve the issue of Bällsta radar, which affects the building of housing in Stockholm, the State will fund LFV with SEK 50 million to strengthen the radar coverage over the Stockholm area. The funding makes it possible for LFV to build a new radar at an existing location in the Uppsala area, which will facilitate further building in Stockholm. The work will commence in 2018. Bällsta radar will still be in use. Expanded center in Sundsvall The former Minister of Infrastructure, Anna Johansson, was in place in Sundsvall 15 February 2017, when she inaugurated the expansion of LFV’s control center for remote air traffic services.
