ANNUAL REPORT 2017 Director-General's Statement
ANNUAL REPORT 2017 LFV is with you on the travel
ABOUT LFV 15 MINUTES BEFORE DEPARTURE. BOARDING.
Boarding for Eva and the other passengers. The pilots request clearance for Luleå, either via radio or data link. This clearance consists of destination, route, height, transponder code, and a CDM starting time, which the pilot and the airport staff has to keep in mind. The pilots and the airport staff make sure that the planned times to keep in mind, still are relevant. If they are not relevant, they have to be updated and a new sequencing for the start flow is made for this flight. THE AIRCRAFT IS AT THE GATE. Safety information to the passengers. The pilots announce that they are ready to begin their flight. The controller verifies that they are within their time-window, and give clearance for starting the engines and make a push-back from the gate. THE AIRCRAFT TAXIES OUT FROM GATE TO START. The controller gives the pilot clearance for taxiing to the runway and sequences the flight for a smooth start flow. In the information from the tower, ATCC sees that the flight is underway and starts planning for the coming take-off. The controller gives clearance to line up on the runway in order behind the aircraft in front, and when the distance to the aircraft in front is sufficient, take-off clearance is given. The tower gives permission for take-off and the flight may lift to 5,000 feet (1,500 meters) on a predetermined route. THE AIRCRAFT TAKES OFF. The controller monitors the start and verifies the height of the aircraft. When there is no separation factor to consider the flight is handed over to the controller at the control center. The flight shows up on the radar screen and get permission to lift to its cruising altitude. EN ROUTE On a level with Skellefteå the controllers at the control center in Stockholm hand over to the controllers at in-flight control in Luleå, who follow the flight on their radar screens. They provide the latest weather information and runway status, and guide the aircraft in the right sequence among military and civil aircraft. The pilot gets permission to descend, information about the current air pressure, and the course the aircraft is to keep. The controllers make sure that all aircraft are sufficiently separated from each other. The tower gets a message about the flight is on the way, and the approach method being used. 15 MINUTES TO LANDING. The passengers are asked to fasten their seatbelts and raise the tables. The aircraft descends to Luleå and lands. While the approach controller provides the last directions for turns and descending to the pilot, the tower controller prepares for landing and orders vehicle driver on the field to park outside the runway. When the aircraft is cleared for approach to the runway in question, it switches to the tower frequency. The tower controller checks carefully that no vehicles or other aircraft are on the runway. The correct airport lights are set through the control panel in the tower. The pilot gets information about the current wind speed and direction, and the intensity settings for the in-flight and runway lights. The aircraft gets permission to land. THE AIRCRAFT LANDS IN LULEÅ. The aircrafts lands, and after the brakes are applied the crew welcome the passengers to Luleå. Eva has arrived, and the travel took 1 hour and 15 minutes. The controller, who constantly monitors the landing, waits until the pilot has reduced the speed significantly, then gives the pilot taxing instructions to the apron and the right gate.
